Through the project, ‘Youth Voices for Development’, CEMCOD provides opportunity for effective participation and strengthened capacities of young people to influence development in their local communities in Uganda.

The project intervention areas are; Mbale (Elgon region), Jinja (Eastern region), Soroti (Teso sub region) and Tororo (Bukedi sub region) where the project has trained a total of 100 youth, equipping them with leadership, communication and participation skills enabling them to report local issues affecting them and their communities through media. CEMCOD recognize that by empowering youth and communities with Media Literacy & civic engagement skills, it enables them to participate and ask effective questions to duty bearers. It also stimulates them to get more informed on governance processes so as to engage with leaders mandated to act on key issues affecting livelihoods of communities in Uganda. The project is implemented in partnership with local radio stations, Elgon FM, NBS FM, Voice of Teso FM and East FM .
